Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the department head or elected official, this non exempt position is responsible for interacting with customers to provide information in response to inquiries about services and to handle and resolve any issues while delivering the highest level of customer service to Anderson County, the community and other departments or agencies.
Performs clerical, accounting and investment duties associated with real estate, personal property, motor vehicle taxes, driver's license.
The duties of this position include billing, receiving, collecting, and processing county property taxes and license fee revenues.
This position is responsible for filing and secretarial support to the Treasurer and Deputy.
Essential Functions:
Balances the daily work and posts to the books; Prepares the daily work and balances monthly; Processes applications and collects fees for motor vehicle titles and registrations; Processes applications and collects fees for driver's licenses; Operates office machines, such as photocopiers and scanners, facsimile machines, voice mail systems, and personal computers; Responds to routine inquiries from telephone callers and visitors; Directs information to other departments if necessary, and reviews documents for accuracy, completeness, and proper signatures; Communicates with customers, employees, and other individuals to answer questions, disseminate or explain information, and address questions; Computes, records, and proofreads data, records, descriptions, and other information for records or reports ' Types or keyboards, formats, proofreads, and edits correspondence and other documents; Counts and handles money, receives money from customers, balances cash in drawers, deposits funds, transfers funds, balances funds, accounts and books; Maintains and updates filing, mailing, database systems, records, either manually or using a computer related to update records and changes; Performs other duties such as data entry, mailings, filing, preparing bulk mail, records management and scanning; Reviews files, records, and other documents to obtain information to respond to requests; Completes research of files, records, and other documents; Collects taxes, current and delinquent.
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:
Processes motor vehicle mail-in applications; Assists in preparation of tax statements for mailing; Posts all delinquent personal prope1ty taxes; Adds and removes customer exceptions; Collects monies from various county offices and writes receipts.
Writes checks for refunds, purchase orders, insufficient checks, payroll, transfers, court costs, etc.
; Gives public tax information and legal descriptions.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS:
Knowledge of state statutes, changes, and new policies that affect driver's licenses and motor vehicle registration, IRP and ad valorem tax collection processes; Knowledge of a wide variety of driver's licenses, knowledge of suspensions, illegal aliens, new drivers, commercial drivers, and elderly drivers , Knowledge of computers, software, accessories, and trouble shooting.
ABILITY:
Ability to operate a typewriter, calculator, computer, and other related office equipment; Capability to calculate figures and amounts such as interest and percentages; Capability to work with money and make change; Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where limited standardization exists; Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form; Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; Ability to write routine rep01is and correspondence; Ability to speak and communicate effectively with customers and employees of organization; Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, propo1iions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry; Ability to apply common sense understanding to cany out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations; Must possess strong computer skills that at a minimum include Microsoft Office Suite products including Word and Excel, ability to work with database systems.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Certification for Driver's License Processing (within 12 months).
Complete training on fraud documentation for Driver's License Processing annually (within 12 months).
Completion of training and certification required operating DMVS System (DRVRS, MOVRS, and ATMM) (within 12 months).
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR
Experience:
One-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
